Regime Complex in Life Sciences Innovation: Disclosure of Source, Traditional Knowledge and Shifts in Intellectual Property and Knowledge Governance

Never before has epistemic justice been at the centre of global knowledge governance with such urgency. This editorial article canvasses the trends and transformations across the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) regimes that render knowledge governance and, by extension, intellectual property (IP) systems in a state of flux. These trends and transformations require responsive agility in law and policy at the international, regional and various municipal levels to cater to the changing needs and increasing capacity gaps of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC). The equitable governance of information remains a work in progress amidst continuing technological evolution.
