Ece was a researcher for both the Open AIR and ABS Canada teams from May 2017 to August 2018, while working towards her Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa. Her participation in the projects stemmed from her previous studies in international development examining comparative aid models to Africa, with a particular focus of the China and the Turkey models. 

Ece also holds an M.A. from Carleton University in European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, specializing in the European Union, as well as a bilingual B.A. from Glendon College, York University in International Studies and Psychology. In 2015, she was awarded the Joseph Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship for her master’s research project. Prior to law school, Ece was a Desk Officer at Global Affairs Canada responsible for foreign relations with Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Most recently, she was published in the Canadian Journal of Diabetes as a co-author of a paper she assisted with during her time as a Junior Policy Analyst at Public Health Agency of Canada. Ece also has international work experience interning in NGOs and law firms, including in Brussels and Istanbul.
